under eye concealers from eve lom and Maybelline

When you're a young'in, you can get away with a one-size-fits-all concealer for redness, spots and dark circles. Then when you start to reach the point of no return, you suddenly start to appreciate what those aul wans were going on about when they said the product you liked so much cracked and settled into fine lines under their eyes.

Bitches be trippin', you were thinking, until you had your own octogenarian eureka moment. Yeah, and it wasn't pleasant. Enter the sudden and urgent need to find a product that's light and fluid enough to flex with eye movement yet provide enough pigment to add coverage and be hydrating enough so that it doesn't settle into skin and cause crepeiness. That's not so simple, believe me.

But y'know, I've managed it. While there are other products I'll happily use around my eyes like Clarins Instant Concealer, Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer and Mac Pro Longwear Concealer, for example, these two are currently getting all the love.

Eve Lom Brilliant Cover Concealer, €35, is a newbie. Launching as part of the brand's Radiance Perfecting Complexion Enhancing range, this is a true marriage of care and colour. Six shades are available; I've got Alabaster. My other big (budget) fave is Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15, €8.99.

Here's why I like 'em. As you can see from the swatch, the Maybelline offering is a lot more fluid than Eve Lom, but that's not to say it's wishy washy as a result. Nope, this is a powerhouse of a product and pricer products can't compete. I swipe it in in a C-shape beneath my eye and buff it in with a brush and job done. I've never noticed it to crack or crease and it doubles-up as a redness reducer as well. This is, quite simply, an awesome product at an awesome price and you need it now.

Eve Lom Brilliant Cover Concealer is noticeably dryer, but it still works on the aged/drier under eye area because its got so many skincare ingredients. It manages to be creamy and stay moist on the skin in the way that, for example, Bobbi Brown's concealer doesn't on me these days. Lots of shades, very decent pigment levels for shadow-hiding and good blendability make this another winner. At more than three times the price, it's a bit of a no-brainer, and to be 100% honest, it's the Maybelline one I do reach for most often, as you can tell by the manky state of it.

Have you tried either of these or have your own under eye fave? Let me know below.
