I'm dying to buy from & Other Stores and approximately one billion US sites are calling me. So how does this service stack up?

Some burds at Parcel Motel

Me and my BBZ at a Parcel Motel*

Heard about Parcel Motel yet? With signature chartreuse and blue stations dotted about the country, it basically acts as a way-station for packages packed full of goodies you've bought online. Like shoes, handbags and fabulous accessories. *happy sigh*

I've actually yet to use it but there are many places I'd love to shop on and so far can't - & Other stories and these awesome stateside sites that don't offer Irish shipping are just some - and it definitely seems to offer an option for some of that.  If the site you're buying from doesn't ship to Ireland but does ship to the UK, then the item can be delivered into Northern Ireland and they send it down to their Irish Motels. Smart.

There's a big FAQ here with all the details but what I want to know is who's already used it, how you found it and whether you'd recommend it as a good #frills based service for the accessory starved? Leave your comments - this is vital, educational information.

*we'll talk about the hackneyed use of women in marketing at a later date, promise.

YES! It's the biz, always prompt and the customer service is fab. I once forgot to put my 'PID' on the package & they intercepted it and made sure it arrived at the right spot. And I think it's kind of exciting (in a Jason Bourne kind of way) to go to the dodgy petrol station in Dolphin's Barn under darkness to 'pick up my package'.

I haven't, but me fella has used it about 20 times at least I'd say. It's really good. There isn't a week goes by that he isn't hanging round down the Maxol picking up bits and pieces.

If you buy something big you know won't fit in the 'motel' you can just pick it up from Nightline in Finglas. He bought a Nigella Lawson breadbin he had to pick up from there no less...

You get 3 free gos of it too.

It was a christmas present for my sister that was way less spendy on amazon. Sadly we do not possess the kitchen counter acreage for such a receptacle.

I've used it twice, the first time my package was too big so I got a text message to ring them. My options were I could collect it at a depot for free or pay to have it delivered to me. It cost 10.50 to get it delivered to me, I was happy enough because the retailer I ordered from didn't deliver to Ireland. The second time was a retailer that was going to charge 25 for delivery to Ireland or 4.50 to U.K. so I used Parcel Motel U.K address and I got it from the motel no bother. I think its a great service.

Parcel Motel has made me a shopping genius - I was after a pair of boots in the oasis sale (I was playing sales monopoly waiting for the price to drop) and they were coming up that they would search "In store" but this service is only available to use in the UK. Enter Parcel Motel. Got my boots and since it was free UK delivery I didnt feel like I was paying extra for delivery (plus first two stays are free). I love it and in fact am off to collect a dress from there after work

Yes! I bought from & other stories using the uk parcel motel address and was delighted with myself. I've also used it for other sites that offer free uk delivery..like you're still paying the parcel motel fee but it's considerably less than p&p a lot of sites charge. I find it to be a really reliable and handy service- aside from the uk thing, I'm not always in for an post deliveries and then trying to get to the depot to collect them is painful, so there's that too. Overall, it's pretty great!
Seriously though, what is the deal with the Irish models in the photo?!

Yep, it's great! (Minus the stupid photo.) I've used it for sensible thing (laptop battery!) that didn't deliver here, and frivolous things (cheapo Kate Kanzier shoes!) that would have been about 50% postage to Ireland, but the best part is being able to collect things when it suits and not just getting missed delivery notices all the time. Pretty quick, and all.

I haven't used them but I have been...em...creative with addresses on amazon for a couple of years now to get Free Super Saver Delivery so this means I can do it properly now, I have to say their social networking teams are brilliant too, they're always super fast with replies and very helpful. I think if I really wanted something off a clothing site that can't seem to calculate the exchange rate from GBP to Euro (coughtopshopdorothyperkinscough) then I'd definitely use it. And for once there's a depot about a half hour away from me, usually us rural folk miss out!

I am recent customer and its a brilliant service. Just make sure when buying from Amazon that your order is delivered in one parcel. Silly me didn't "tick that box" so had 2 separate parcel motel deliveries. Doh!

I've used them to buy (I know, granny alert) cutlery from John Lewis, Lakeland stuff and a few other bits. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS

There's still an issue shipping liquids by regular post between the UK & Ireland so I had problems getting food flavourings from Lakeland. Oddly enough, we've no problem at all buying gazillions of stuff from the US on Ebay like perfume & nail polish. Bizarro

I've used it a lot, it's brilliant. No more trekking to the post office. What I used to find really annoying was courier deliveries as I was never there! However Fastway don't deliver to Parcel Motel for some stupid reason.

The postage for Neal's Yard to Ireland is crazy so I use the UK address for that!
