In town for the launch of Dublin Fashion Festival in association with Samsung, I knew I needed to get a few minutes with Laura Whitmore. Her star's been rising by the second recently and she's been rocking out some completely amazing-looking stuff. A Frilseeker if ever I saw one.
The minutes were grabbed, mere hours before Laura took to the mic to welcome in the festival, organised by DublinTown.ie, and which kicks off proper on the 5th of September and runs right through to the 8th. More on that as and when.
Dressed in the Kooples and Kurt Geiger, this chick looks bleedin' awesome. But we wanna know about her accessories, right? Right.
Chakra necklaces by Daisy are Whitmore's big thing - Sienna Miller's a fan too. "Me and my friends all have them. I've got two: one for my life and direction, and one for self esteem. They're for protection," she says, adding, "it's a safety thing almost." We get ya.
Different symbols on Daisy pieces signify different things: she points out each symbol on her phone
And it's not just on her neck she's got protection. "I feel naked without something on my right arm," she tells me. So she's got another Daisy chakra here in the form of a bracelet. Ahem, those rings? Yep, we wanna know all about them.
Over on the right, that big shield is a piece Whitmore bought to commemorate something special. "It's from Mimco and I bought it to celebrate getting the MTV job," she says. A girl after my own heart - I do the same thing.
The top gold ring with open detailing is one of Pandora's stackers and the band below it has special significance. "It was my granny's," she says. Awww.
This cutie is from Topshop.
As is this big knuckleduster.
This coral-inspired beauty is from Myflashtrash.com. "Amber Atherton's a friend," she explains. "I love lots of the stuff on the site." Yup, me too.
But it's not all about rings 'n' things. Is she a bag or a shoe gal. "Shoes!" she says, emphatically. So, what's she wearing?
A killer pair of pointy-toed red suede Kurt Geiger heels with statement gold spike. "And they're really quite comfortable too," she laughs.
There's more than one way to accessorise a body. Whitmore's got two tattoos, both visible, and both small and delicate. One's on her wrist, the other her foot.
This one? A nod to her Irishness, it says tadh.
Whitmore's mix of meaningful pieces, highstreet buys and the odd statement is testament to the fact she's clearly wearing stuff that matters to her, as opposed to having it chosen and being told what to put on.
And, as she wryly says herself, "I'm not that good with expensive things," telling me a story about getting pricey bag tangled up in the spokes of her bike, it seems you can take the girl out of Wicklow, but she'll always retain her down-home groundedness. And I think we love her a lot for that.
